Three Avocados Non-Profit Coffee

I took a trip to Uganda in January (16-23). I know there were multiple people on the trip that were amazed at how many roadside markets there were, and yet, how no one seemed to be buying anything. Lots and lots of sellers, but no buyers. It's like there's virtually no economy. And that makes sense - after all, Uganda is one of the poorest countries in the world.

So, I started kicking around some ideas with some guys...what could we sell in the US that would come from Uganda? You know, how could we kick some cash into their economy? We talked about importing beer (Nile Special is pretty good), but, nah, they're owned by South African Breweries, which owns Miller. I don't want to give more cash to an already wealthy corporation in a poor country (not through this project, that is). What about African drums? Or tribal masks? Maybe. How about coffee? Yes!!

Coffee is the perfect product. It's consumable, so people will need to keep purchasing it. A drum or mask is a one time purchase. Plus, people already buy coffee. Lots of it. And, Uganda already exports tons of coffee.

We set up a non-profit, Three Avocados, to sell Ugandan coffee here in the US. Proceeds go back to community projects in Uganda.

So, do your share to help out - buy a bag of coffee.
